My Mission

As you can see from these photos, I was an extremely normal high schooler, totally blended in and did everything by the book...er, ok, maybe that's not entirely true...

 

I was definitely a pretty odd theater kid growing up and I always try to bring that unique energy into every classroom and workshop I teach. My teaching ethos can be divided into three strong driving forces: empathy, humor, and community.

Empathy

I want to foster a feeling of grace, respect and understanding. As an educator, it is extremely important to me to know that every child is unique and I will always try to meet them where they are.

Humor

School and theater are important to me. They mean a lot and I take them incredibly seriously. However, that doesn't mean that lessons don't need to be fun, engaging, and bring out a sense of humor whenever possible.

Community

I want to build a community not only with my students, but with my fellow faculty and teaching artists. As a theater kid I have always enjoyed collaboration and it's something I bring into my everyday life in school as well. Community building is paramount in my journey as an educator.
